چکیده

Going through the development more than forty years, the overall water-cut to Daqing Oilfield has almost reached 90%. But there is still considerable residual oil in the place. Reservoir engineers want to know the residual oil spatial distribution and how to dig it. This requires large-scale reservoir simulation within limited time. Enlarged scale and highly expected efficiency need higher technical capability for reservoir simulation. By using PC-Cluster technique developed in recent years, large-scale reservoir simulation can be carried out at a relatively low cost. The first PC-Cluster used for reservoir simulation in Daqing Oilfield was designed and built. Based on this developing environment, the serial black oil simulator was parallelized by using the SLES components in PETSc. Then this parallel simulating technique was applied in seven oil production districts of Daqing Oilfield, where the PC-Clusters were configured and the parallel black oil simulator PBRS2.1 we had developed was installed and good results were achieved. In this paper, the hardware and system software configuration of PC-Clusters built is briefly introduced, the idea and method for parallelizing the serial black oil simulator is discussed, and the simulation study at seven typical field blocks and their application results are described and presented.

Enabling OMNeT++-based simulations on grid systems

Simulation involves using a model to produce results, rather than experimenting with a real system. Simulations are typically computationally intensive problems, and lend themselves for execution on large-scale PC clusters or grids. Use of grid infrastructure for discrete event simulation like communications network simulations, or queuing network simulations etc. is not prevalent; making grid ...

Probability distribution and sizes of spanning clusters at the percolation thresholds

For random percolation at pc, the probability distribution P (n) of the number of spanning clusters (n) has been studied in large scale simulations. The results are compatible with P (n) ∼ exp(−an) for all dimensions. We also study the variation of the average size (mass) of the spanning clusters when there are more than one spanning cluster. While the average size of the spanning clusters scal...

Stellar Kinematics of Young Clusters in Turbulent Hydrodynamic Simulations

The kinematics of newly-formed star clusters are interesting both as a probe of the state of the gas clouds from which the stars form, and because they influence planet formation, stellar mass segregation, cluster disruption, and other processes controlled in part by dynamical interactions in young clusters. However, to date there have been no attempts to use simulations of star cluster formati...

Accelerating the GMRES Solver with Block ILU (K) Preconditioner on GPUs in Reservoir Simulation

The solution of sparse linear systems is the most time-consuming step in running reservoir simulations; over 70% of time is spent on the solution of linear systems derived from the Newton methods [1]. If large highly heterogeneous reservoir models are applied, their linear systems are even harder to solve and require much more simulation time. Hence fast solution techniques are fundamental to l...

Dynamical Evolution of Globular Clusters in the Magellanic Clouds and Other Local Systems

Observations of rich LMC and SMC clusters reveal an increasing spread in core radius (r c) with age. This trend likely represents real physical evolution in these systems. Old clusters appear either large or small. Similar r c distributions are observed for the Fornax and Sagit-tarius dSph cluster systems and in the " young " halo Milky Way subsystem. These observations have implications for th...
